Glass scratch repair suggestions

I have no idea exactly how, but yesterday I was cleaning the interior and somehow scratched the inside of the windshield. There are two scratches and while they're pretty shallow and narrow, in each case my fingernail catches. Of course I've searched the interwebs for suggested resolutions and I went by the local auto parts store looking for glass scratch repair suggestions. There really wasn't anything there but they suggested body scratch remover combined with a polisher. The scratches are in the lower third of the windshield and I have a Powerball, which will let me get into that small spot. But, before I embark on this journey I thought I'd see if anyone has any other suggestions. Thanks!

You can remove the scratch just like one in the paint but unlike paint where you can polish it to a shine easily. Glass is hard and you will just end up with a hazy mess. If you do manage to remove the scratch and polish it back up to smooth to match, than you will have a optic distortion that will be larger than the original scratch. Think of the windshield as a giant lens.
The only suggestion I would have is to get some rouge on your powerball and be very gentle, it won't remove the scratch but polish it to "clear". You will also get that red crap everywhere.
Look up telescope mirror polishing.

I heard from a friend that does window repair try to put toothpaste on it. Let it dry and remove.

I got impatient and decided to give it a go with the Powerball and scratch remover. Predictable results. I also tried some metal polish I use for my tips. Again, predictable results. It's funny some of the answers I've gotten from a few people - on the inside? Really? I'll give the toothpaste a go - smother it on, let it dry, trim with a razor. Also going to call a glass repair place tomorrow.
