E70 X5 DIY Video: Diesel Exhaust Fluid Refill

Below is a step-by-step video on how to refill your diesel exhaust fluid tanks (passive & active). No tools necessary and an easy way to do it at home without having to pay anyone.

Thank You that is very helpful. My wife has an 09 x5 diesel and the sensor on the passive tank has gone bad! Since we are currently upside down on the car to the tune of $1000.00 dropping another $2600 into the car does not hold much appeal for me. Do you is there any fix for this issue other than replacing the tank? Is there somewhere in the country that might have a good used tank? Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have heard of people bypassing the level sensor in lieu of replacing the tank itself. Unfortunately I can't comment much beyond that as I have no personal experience.

Sorry but if being "upside down" on a BMW at $1,000 you may want to consider another vehicle...$1,000 does not seem bad at all, especially if that $1,000 lasts you at least a another year in maintenance (hopefully more). Look into recalls for the urea tank, I think the active tank is under warranty until 120k miles.
