Nav update/features question

Hi Guys:

I have a 2012 E70 which I bought in April. At that time I updated the software and the maps, (to 2015.1). IS there any big differences between 2015.1 & 2 ??

I have a 2nd question: on my Garmin, it has speed limits built in for most highways/roads in NA. (shows on the screen what the current legal speed limit is) Can the BWM Nav do this ??

Thanks

The maps will be updated, but the interface will not be.

And yes, the BMW navigation systems do this, but not the ones that the E70 came with.

How did you get the update. Were you able to do it yourself or did you get it from the dealer? Did it cost anything to do this?

Navigation map updates

Hi Guys,

I have a 2012 X5D. The navigation map version shows as NA BMW Group
112111.218 Road Map North America Premium 2012.

What is the latest map version and what is the best way to upgrade?

Thanks........

I have 2012 maps as well. Is it worth the upgrade to 2016? I've been relying solely on Waze for my navigation... Do the 2016 maps lag on the 2012 system?

Map updates, are simply that, map updates. New roads, new POI's, etc.

Not upgrades to the UI, performance improvements, etc. If you want those, you buy a 2016 X5.

Are they worth it? It depends if you favor an integrated experience of your car. Or you prefer technology such as your phone. I actually like the BMW nav, use Waze a lot, and hate the experience of apple or google maps. I have yet to use Waze for navigation, just traffic checking.

Thanks for the reply. I had a NBT 3 series loaner and that thing was smooth when scrolling in the maps. I feel that the CIC maps lag a little bit and worried if the new maps would slow it down even more since I think they have more 3D rendering. I think I will just hold off on the map upgrades. I've used the car's navigation before and didn't like it. Takes a long time to enter the addresses and you need to get every single field correct which can get frustrating. I'll stick to my Waze/Google maps. I like Waze for navigating, especially through traffic, but I've been detoured away from traffic to local roads which took longer. Also, the police alerts are great
