When you engage the M button the feel you are talking about is much more pronounced without it engaged. Still better ride geometry in comparison to stock, but for me the true benefit of this mod is when the M button is engaged from my perspective.
The steering wheel feel in this SUV is much heavier than what I have ever been used to. Especially getting into my M3 where the turning and steering feel is instant. To answer your question yes I certainly did feel an improvement over stock. |

Any additional pictures of the Dinan drop? I'm still on the fence between these springs or just getting the KWs.

Just got my M out of the shop today with new Dinan suspension.
The front looks a little higher but I assume it will settle over the next while. It drives real nice. Not to different than stock. Like someone else said it feels really planted. Will post pics when the crappy weather clears. |

Wait until it settles and you actually push it. If you have RFTs on the truck it may be the reason behind not feeling different. I noticed the difference immediately just by sitting in the drivers seat and the front angle. You will enjoy the new found grip and confidence

How long does it take to install? How much did the install cost. Says 8.5 hours on the Dinan website. No rear springs just rear shock mount correct?
From Dinan specs: Front springs, Front shock mounts, Rear shock mounts, and Rear ride-height sensor rods

That is a new set up they are selling. If you are close with your Dinan rep, ask for the the older set up which I have and includes the rear springs.
For install again if all depends on your shop. I am close with mine and grimly charged me for 3-4hrs of labor. To the poster on the fence to get KWs. It is a totally different scenario. What are you looking for? Cost? What are your roads like? For me the KW is the ultimate. I would love to and if I intend on keeping this truck for years, I Williston certainly be doing KWs at some point. For now, the Dinan is fantastic. With getting rid of the RFTs and putting DWS on and losing almost 100lbs of unsprung weight with VELOS custom 20s. The X5M handles almost as good as my e90m3. Of course the steering in my M3 is just ridiculously good and there is almost 2.5k pound difference. |

I went with Dinan because I didn't want to compromise the stock ride too much. And the roads up here suck. |

it really takes max 3 hours to do it + alignment. 8.5 hours of labor is really really really ripoff.

Thanks, I might buy the springs from Calgary BMW but ECUProgram would install them for under $500.

It went from March madness to spring sale so they still have the 15% off sale on.

Can you guys with the Dinan suspension on your X5M measure your ride height? Mine still looks too high in the front compared to many of the pictures I have seen of others with the Dinan suspension.
If someone could measure from the fender to the ground on front and back I would be grateful. Just got my new rims installed and they said they thought it didn't look quite right either compared to other Dinan rides. Is there a specified height anywhere? Is the front height adjustable at all? |

Mine too sat high when new. A month and it is settling. I had it in to the dealer for a slight adjustment.

Here is a pic after having the Dinan suspension in for several months and how the car sits. With the kit that I bought last year, I guess I can go slightly lower in the rear if I want to. This is set up as of now as to what DINAN recommended.

Nice wheels! Are those the Velos S1's? I remember someone on here was waiting to get them put on...

Yes these are the signature series. That was me waiting! Took a while, but well worth the wait. Color and fitment Are perfect. The offset is really killer as well. Almost flush to the massive wheel arch flares on the X5M. Both front and rear have great concavity. The fronts may not be as aggressive as we needed clearance for the 410mm 6 piston brembos, which finally will be mounted tomorrow!! 6 months in the making to get this set up complete. The issue has been the 20 inch wheel size.
This will be a one of one, which is pretty rare these days in the modding world. Would I of liked and would it have made my life easier going with a 21 or bigger wheel. Yes. But, tire choices are horrible in my opinion for those sizes and for X5M massive tire needs. When this is all said and done I will have removed at least 150lbs of unsprung weight (tires, stock wheels and now front brakes). The rear caliper set up will be waiting a little while. In process of building a home. Pics to come tomorrow all of the brakes. I think everyone will be quite pleased of the finish. |
