Possibly Damaged FRM Module After Battery Boost...?
Sup guys,
My battery crapped out on me on Sunday, i was able to get a boost to restart it. However, immediately after driving off i got "Lighting System! Stop vehicle" warning. Now the power window, power door locks, interior lights, door handle courtesy light and Angel lights no longer work. In addition, i get a driver side door open all the time even though it is properly closed. I took it to two indy shops, both ran a diagnostic. The first indy shop stated the comfort/convenience module needed to be replaced. When scanning he got the following codes, i don't know what any of them mean (unfortunately he was unable to reset the codes); E5D8 Message (Dimmer, 0x202) incorrect receiver CID (K-CAN) E75E No Message (dimming), 202 E2D5 Incorrect message (dimming, 202) E097 Message, dimmer The second indy shop stated it was a bad FRM and recommended that i reach out to BMW as there is currently a recall as confirmed by fellow board member on this post; Lighting System! Stop vehicle - Bimmerfest - BMW Forums However, when i ran my vehicle (2010 X5) vin against the BMW recall site, I did not qualify for the recall. Has anyone experienced this issue? Any feedback/guidance would be greatly appreciated. Also i believe there is a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) on this issue. Anyone know where i can access it? btw, I took my oe battery to Advance Auto to have it checked out. Turns out i needed a new battery. I replaced it with a Car Craft Platinum AGM Battery from Advance Auto. I installed and registered it myself using Carly but still getting the same issues listed above. Thanks in advance!

My wife's truck has been acting up this week as well, I'm pretty sure it had something to do with the arctic blast of cold we had this week in NY... she sent me before and after pics of the i-drive screen this morning since it's finally above 32*
I would recommend you look into replacing your IBS cable since you already replaced the battery...I may replace mine as well http://www.bimmerscan.com/bmw-intell...ry-sensor-ibs/

Its your FRM no doubt.
I would attempt to call BMWNA and plead your case on why so many other models have the extended warranty, but yours does not but exhibits the same failure. If you are adventurous and want to try to repair yourself, see: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1189062 |

Quick Update:
After further research and feedback from fellow board members here and other forums, i decided to book an appointment with the BMW Auto Center in Port Chester NY to take a look at it. Anyone have experience with this service center? Based on the following SIB it appears my vehicle is covered. Also, page 6 indicates the primary cause is "Connect an approved battery charger/power supply" which may relate to the battery pack I used give my car a boost. https://mega.nz/#!ctNgnTLR!Ryid5xjd2...qqIfWQ1DrgEAZI I also found some good info here; https://bmwtechnician.com/2016/06/29...module-failed/ Question, does anyone have or know where i can find a list of items the FRM controls, ie. Windows, locks, blinkers etc? |

Check you your vin here, if "BMW ELW Footwell Module" are listed then, it should be covered, no cost to you. |

So, this module is only covered if a cost to replace is incurred? It's not a recall?

Don't think there was official recall for it, but it's more like that ridiculous extended warranty or campaign that they don't call it "Recall" but if the owner mention it about the issue they will cover it (if only they mention it saying found this on reimbursement site.).... go figure....

I think you're referring to a TSB, which is a technical service bulletin. A TSB is simply when a fix is discovered to a previously unfixable problem. The TSB communicates the fix among the dealership network. This FRM issue appears to be neither an extended warranty item nor a TSB.

Update:
Sup Guys, So i dropped off my X5 on Friday for my 9:00am appointment at the Port Chester Service Center. I was assigned (SA) Dava Somma. I was initially assigned Doug Imhoff (SA) but i guess he called out and I was reassigned to Dave who seemed like a nice guy. I explained to Dave the issue i was encountering with my vehicle along with the SIB for the extended warranty on the Footwell FRM. Dave agreed that it sounded like it was an issue with the FRM. I was quickly given a loaner and told they would reach out to me once the diagnostics was done. Six hours later i received a call from Dave stated the car was ready for pick up. The issue was in fact the FRM and covered by the warranty. I returned the loaner, jumped in my X5 and all is well again. Thanks for all the help!
