Whistling / Squeaking sound when acceleration on Brand New X5 3.5

Hi Guys,

I've been an e90post member for a while and traded in my e92 for a new x5. Absolutely love the X5, great car and drive.

The car has about 2,000 miles on it and is about 3 weeks old now. It's a 2012 3.5.

Yesterday when I was driving I heard a light squeak every time I let go of the accelerator. It sounded like a very very very high pitched blow off valve, but I know the x5s don't have one, and that's why I'm so confused. Sometimes when I drive and the car and it is shifting gears it makes the same squeaking sound.

Does anyone else have this sound? Is it normal, I feel like it just began happening?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have an 09 3.0 and am getting a noise when coasting. But my sound is more metallic like a dragging chain noise. It almost sound like a chain saw that is idling . . .

You mean 35 as opposed to 3.5 - right? Is it the 35i or the 35d? I just ordered my 35d so I'm reading everything I can on it and I'd like to know which one you have.

Mine isn't like that, but someone on the e92 forums had that problem, it sounded like metal chips clinging together when he rev'd the car, it apparently was metal shavings somewhere inside the engine, I'm not sure if its' the same thing, but sounds similar.

yeah 35i, I was just trying to emphasize it was the 6 cyl rather than the 8cyl.

Anyone hear this sound before, it's almost like a shooting or whirling sound. I'm going to take it to the dealer on Monday.

Garage List
Same noise in my 2012 X5M. Only happens few minutes after starting up and drive. Does not happen when the engine is cold in the morning, only after it has been warmed up and parked for awhile. I believe a lot of people are experiencing the same thing. Sounds like it is coming from the engine bay area of somewhere inside the dash, very high frequency squealing sound. If you have your music turned up you wouldn't hear it at all.

Goes away, if I push the A/C button or if I get the RPM up higher.

I do have a whistling noise but it sounds like it is coming from exterior, on the passenger side, so I assumed it is wind getting trapped somewhere.

My 2013 X5 35i also has this kind of Whistling noise every time when I loose the accelerator after pushing it. I took it to a local dealer. They told me that it's not an issue and common for all new X5s. They tested several other new X5s, same noise occurred. I do not feel any problem yet, just a little bit annoying.
