Winter Tire Suggestions?

Yes it is that time, when you live in Canada.

I have 19" rims - looking to put on 255/50R19 replacements.

Previously had the Pirelli Scorpion RFT. I would never buy these again. high wearing, lousy traction.

Tire Rack comes up with the following: the Scorpions (w/ and w/o RFT), Blizzak LM-60s, and Michelin Latitude Alpin HP.

TR says the (brutal) Scorpions are the most suitable for ice, which can be a problem here (much moreso than deep snow).

Thoughts anyone?

Did you have Pirelli scorpion ice and snow or the all seasons? I just got the former last winter and yes, they drone on some highway surfaces but braking on ice and snow was excellent, accelerating (in snow) not so much but still ok compared to all season. I still use the all season pirellis, they do an excellent Job of holding down the pool cover in the back yard during winter.

If you didn't like the scorpion ice and snow, go with michelin. Otherwise, Pirellis were recommended to me as well by TR.

I live where it gets very cold ( Fort McMurray ) and used the Pirelli scorpion snow & ice last year and thought they were great. No regrets. 1010 tires.com free shipping.

I had the Pirelli Scorpion snow and ice - disappointing IMO.

Any thoughts on what all of the categories really mean: "performance", "high performance", etc...

I saw these. However they are all-seasons and I want good ice performance. I was thinking of the Hakkapeliitta R SUV. Anyone have experience with these? Also the speed rating is pretty ordinary - "R".

Thoughts?
