Angry Need help for Stereo

So when I ordered my car me and my salesman had a misunderstanding and he ordered my car without the Premium stereo. It was too late in production to retrofit when I found out, and now I'm stuck with....a shit stereo...it REALLY sucks. I need some help with what to do, I've never bothered with sound work on a car because optional stereos are usually sufficient...but this is bad. Bavariansoundwerks has a "upgrade" due for October, anyone dealt with them? Other than that I have no clue where to start, has anyone done any work to their X5? Any tips are useful. Thanks in advance for the help

Tell your SA to keep the X5 and get one elsewhere. May not be what you want to hear, but if my SA didn't listen to me when planning out my car, then he didn't really want the business.
I personally had to initial the order I placed. That way, we wouldn't be in the same boat as you.

Five Series folks seem happy with the BSW upgrade. It is better quality speakers but you may need to do more to get a sub and amp for it.

I am a sound nut and I like it a little on the loud side; so, for me, Premium Sound is in both of the BMWs. If they did not have it I would not have bought them - I know it is crazy but to each his own.

how differnet is premium sound from the regular system.... I really didn't wanna spend the additional 500 bucks on it and just ordered a diesel without it. Am i making that big a mistake? I currently have an 08 x5 with premium in it.

Get a couple good amps, new speakers and a good LOC. Bimmers are usually easy to upgrade. It's far better than the premium stereo. I've done a couple. Mb quart speakers usually fit well. The alpine pdx5 is small and powerful.

I have the similar issue, bought pre-configured e70 (with a huge discount) and got shitty basic bmw soundsystem. Would modifications to the audio subsystem void manufacturers warranty?

I really want to upgrade my soundsystem but, not that much to lose warranty.

If it was me, I would have refused the vehicle and have them order another one or go to a dealer who listens to what you want on the vehicle.

The stereo on my 2011 x5 (without premium sound) has got to be the worst on the road in any 2011 vehicle. The stereo in the Hyundai Sonata and the Honda Civic is incredible compared to this crap. It sounds like it's muffled and echoed and making adjustments doesn't seem to help.

The BSW speaker set originally said they will be ready end of August for e70 but then changed to end of October abruptly... bleh

YES - a huge mistake for $500. I think you have to ask the question "Why in the world am I trying to save $500 on a $60k+ vehicle when I will drive it every day with a crappy sound system????" Afterall, you know you want the Premium System and you should order it NOW!

I wish this post was around before I ordered my x5d without the premium sound.... weighing the ~$2k for the system got me down, but now having lived it, I'm regretting that "frugal" decision.

I too was being FRUGAL when I ordered my wife's Z4 35i over a year ago without the premium sound. Then I dropped off my trade and had the salesman drive me home in the Z4 35i demo that had NO premium sound. The base system was so bad that you could barely hear it at full blast with the top down. So, I immediately had him change the order to PREMIUM SOUND; I then did the same on the X5. There are a lot of options I can live without, including navigation and park distance junk, but sound is paramount to me.
