X6m Breakes Awfull Noise

My X6M makes awfull squeaking when i only touch the breaks, especially in REVERSE but also when driving ahead.I changed disks and everything but again its like this, they say there is no solution to this.I drove fast and hit the breaks hard before when i bought the car and as its heavy they started making noise. Now i drive more moderate, maybe if i change it all again for little less than 3000 euro then it wont make noise again, what you guys this ?

The breaks should not make any noticeable noise. Did you take it to BMW Service? Sometimes, you need to properly bed in breaks (a serious of consequtives stops from 100-120 km/h) - please google it.
Depending where you live, you may get tiny stones between your disks and pads and God this makes a horrible noise!!!! Not much you can do until the stone is gone.

Wow man that sucks. I've only got 1300 miles on my X6M (I've had it for just over a week now) and have not had any noise from the brakes.

My previous car, a 2009 MB SLK 300 had squeaky brakes most of its life though, and I noticed it more when the car and brakes were cold. After warming up a bit and using the brakes harder, it would go away. Pulling out of my driveway in the morning, squeaky brakes.

Do your X6M brakes squeak constantly even after a long drive in reverse, or only when cold?

Also I am not mechanically inclined much, but logic seems to dictate that if you replaced rotors and pads and still get the squeak, maybe the issue is with placement of the calipers or the pistons in the calipers - did you have calipers looked at or replaced? It seems to me that replacing discs again, unless you got some bad ones, might not fix the issue.

Look on the bright side though, in reverse you can think of it as a safety feature, so people hear you reversing and get out of the way - kidding, but couldn't resist.

Good luck, I hate squeaky brakes and I know how frustrating it can be especially on a nice car.

Mine were replaced under warranty same reverse noise, for your knowledge, BMW changed the OEM part # that means the new brakes are not the same part number as the replaced one's, no issues after that, good luck

Just curious, did they replace the calipers as well, the entire assembly basically? Sounds like that night be OP's issue.

Same problem here headed to dealer.... Noticed if I do small pumps of the brakes in reverse stops the squeal? My old E 46 M3 used to squeal as well. Hope the pads do the trick.

Just dropped of my X6M this am for the brake squeal, dealer confirmed there was a service bulletin and it has been remedied or so they say.
Not sure why the service bulletin isn't posted on the nhtsa.gov site, but there is indeed a recall for the squeaky brakes on the M

Interesting. I will keep an ... Ear out ... for these squeaky brakes. My 2013 X6M was built in December 2012 so I am hoping she wont need the recall. So far so good.

Just had the same issue.... Definitely have them change rotors, pads all the way around. This is an M and should not sound like you are running over birds backwards etc.... They changed mine last week and now they are perfect. You might have to make a stink, if you are not tight with any service people. They only replace least amount as possible based on BMW computers telling them mileage to allow replacement. You must replicate the noise in the garage of the service area and they will fix them. Good Luck...

Just chiming in....I have an M6 and it is also exhibiting the same issue. Dealer initially told me there is nothing they can do and it is normal for high performance brakes to squeal. I was told to just brake harder instead of feathering the brakes.

I escalated to BMW Corporate and now I got them to replace the pads and the rotors. The part needed to be approved by Corporate as it costs upwards of $5k. My car is scheduled for this Monday to do the replacement.

Same thing here. Had the brakes done under warranty. Make noise only when i slightly touch the brake pedal under 20mph. Broght it back 3 times, found nothing wrong, noise is still there, decided to wait until next brakes service.

I noticed last winter and complained it. A service adviser told me the typical story blah blah, nothing is wrong, the break needs to get warmed up so I need to slam the break a couple of times. Well, his suggesting did not work. This noise came back this year (cold weather combined at reverse). I went into for a regular maintenance and complained again. A guy gave me an exactly the same story. However, I had to leave my car over night because one of the parts was not ready. A technician obviously heard the horrible noise in the morning. A service adviser called me back in the afternoon saying that they heard a noise from the front break and replaced with a different/newer one. Now it is noise-free. It was so embarrassing every time I pulled back from the parking lots in public during the winter. Now it's solved.

Mine were making noise too. Even though pads were pretty new I had BMW replace rotors and brakes. Problem solved.

Typically BMW tend to squeak a tiny but not much.

Same issue here on my x6m. As I approach a stop or light, the squeaking is horrible. Unacceptable that any car has such an annoying issue, especially when they are aware

My GF gets overly embarrassed about it, to the point where the guys at Les Schwab told her the car wasn't safe to drive when she had it one time. I just tell her that it uses race pads and that commoners don't know what that means.

I be using HEAVY amounts of anti-squeal compound on the back of the pads whenever I change them to some aftermarket pads that don't dust so badly.
