after many e-mails and responses to these threads i have ordered the Velos tune for my x5m today and will attempt to install myself. i will update after the install to let everyone that may have the same questions that i had know how the install went. i don't have much auto experience but i do have an engineering and computer science backgroud so i will give it a shot.

thanks for everyone that responded to my questions and omar at velos.

Great choice, it's way easier then you think. Time to race it! :-)

I've got a eurocharged tune and have been happy with it. Got a 12.2 so far and there is alot more in it.

I need to lose my run flats and grab an exhaust come spring time.

Do you have downpipes already? If you don't I would opt for those first over an exhaust unless your getting both or already have.

No downpipes for me... at least not yet. My dealer are a bunch of sticklers and will void my warranty if I put down pipes on. I'm still fully covered if I just grab an exhaust. I've heard gains of 15-20hp from some of these exhausts out there and weight savings of close to 70 pounds with some. Anyway to slim these monsters down will help. I noticed a difference just with and without my spare.

Decisions... Decisions....

I'm having a hard time deciding which way to go.

To be perfectly honest, there really isn't any activity in the X5/6 section of this forum and hardly any reviews being posted on what's out there for these cars. I've heard about many new products available for our cars, but the reviews are nowhere to be found.

I remember the early 335i days on E90post... There were at least 5-10 reviews per week for all the new products for the N54.

When I do decide on a tune, I will add DP's at the same time as it appears this will yield the biggest gains on an otherwise stock car. Obviously the Akrapovic and Supersprint are the highest quality and best known, but what's the consensus on the AR's or Ultimate Racing?? What is the quality like and any installation issues? I've read that the newer M's have a slip-on attachment in place of the bolted flange found on older M's. Is that true? If so, do any companies have DP's available with the newer attachment?

Thanks.

We offer a fantastic tune for the X5M and X6M as well:

Peak gains are normally 70-100hp and 90-130 ft/lbs (depends on octane).

Have a look at the dyno here: http://www.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=763955

Comes with the Flashing cable which you can keep - flash to stock + read and clear fault codes. Takes only ten minutes to flash the file in

Cheaper than all of the alternatives above.

You can find some reviews of our M3 software here - (uses the same cable and process): http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=784717

Can you provide more details? Pricing etc? There doesn't seem to be anything on your website for the X5m. I've read the posts in the link previously.

Glad you're enjoying it Dan. One of the beautiful things about the X5 50i is that it has the same ECU and a very similar motor to the X5M. This allows a lot of magic to be worked.

Thank you!
