Nav Screen Auto Dim?

Does anyone know of a way to hack the software of a 2012 X5M so that the Nav Screen will go to night mode when the headlights come on?

I set one of the memory buttons to turn night nav on or off - my POS ford work vehicle has auto sensing daylight so it does it automatically when sunlight drops off - BMW don't have that or a repeat song function on the cd player - but we do have 3d nav and HUD

The frustrating thing is that other BMW models do have the auto function. The 2014 X5's will probably catch up.

Too bad there doesn't seem to be a more elegant solution than to use one of the program buttons.

Can someone explain what the "night mode" is? I have a 2011 3.5 and I don't have a night or day mode anywhere to be found. My nav is black with white text all of the time.

My 09 Z4 nav system does'nt have they auto function either.
