Shouldn't be a problem I've seen a few. I ran 2 sets of 20" 214s one with Dunlop for summer, other with Pirelli for winter. Excellent performance and look all year round.

Did you tell them?

BTW, increasing wheel size on x5 reduces tire profile. Due to wheel assembly design, you simply cannot go ridiculously big on wheels. Don't have the diagrams now, but there's a piece of medal that sticks out over the tire itself - no way to go beyond it.

Just make sure you check the selection and prices for tires; there's a reason used 21" wheel sets are cheap.

They're an OEM option for christs sake. Do you people really think BMW would offer a wheel and tire option that renders the truck useless and unsafe? WTF? You people are lunatics....

Just double make sure they're not X6 specs the rear wheel of the X6 won't feet the X5 only the X5M. The rears are different between the X5 and X6. The rear wheel center bore of the X6 spec wheels is too small for the regular X5.

The 21" wheel size is fine. Whether its the proper wheel for your X5 is another thing. As mentioned above, there are some wheels - even OEM of course that may fit X6 or X5M but not X5...

I have 21" wheels on my X5 (style 128). Never had any issues at all.

But honestly... Take some advice from me. There are no tire options AT ALL except the Dunlops. And they run almost $3k (USD) for tires alone!

If you're in the stages of planning new wheels right now, you should just go with 20" or if you like the bigger look, then go with 22". 22" will work fine as well, just check your specs. And tires will be much much much cheaper!

I got my X5 CPO and it had the 21" wheels already. I was fortunate enough to get some lightly used tires once already. But when these run down, I will probably just switch to 22" wheels. At $3k for 21" tires, I could spend a little more and get 22" full wheel/tire package and save money in the long run.

Good luck, whatever you do.

I just replaced my 19 inch wheels to 215 oem BMW wheels. Runs great, I did not encounter such problems yet. Look nice with big wheels.
