BMW Apps / ConnectedDrive issue

So, I'm having problems with my "new to me" X5. Its a 2011 and it has or is supposed to have the BMW Apps. So I read up on it and I downloaded the BMW Connected app. But, when I connect my iPhone to the vehicle it doesn't have the connected drive option on the main screen. I do get playback of music and it will show album art but thats basically it. Any ideas??
Just to show why I believe that it has the BMW apps, I took a picture of the options list that was on the vehicle when it was sold new.
