Just got back from picking up my X5 that I had ordered in Germany, and I am overwhelmed with joy. But while I was there the dealership kept pushing the tire and wheel warranty, just wonder what everyone's thoughts and opinion are. They quoted me a price of $1129.

I added up how may wheels and tires i went through in my fx45 in 7 yrs of owning it through being damaged!
0
thats how i decided not to do the wheel and tire insurance
even if u went through 1 wheel and 1 or 2 tires i dont think u would get to $1129.
ps i am also glad because we r locked into that tire for the length of the contract, no chance on trying others out as i plan to do with my bridgestone duelers once there worn out.
hope this helps.

If you live close to a dealer, I think it would be good piece of mind. Myself, being 500 miles from the closest dealer, no way. Too much headache.

Depends on what size tires you're running. I just got 2 nails in my Style 215s and the bill came out to be above $1,600... Just my $.02

I've heard it's pretty common that some folks with the warranty get nails in the tires at around the 50% tread wear range usually around November before winter and bad potholes season.

What is the deductible in the contract state? Is it per wheel/tire or is it per visit? Does it include the mounting and balancing?

Were the nails close to the sidewall?

I had a nail in my tire couple weeks ago. Plugged it with kit. Cost ~ 10$. 90% of punctures are repairable. It's just a nail, easy to plug the hole.

As user ard pointed out, you gotta consider the history when buying one of these "peace of mind" tire warranties. How many punctures did you have on all vehicles in past 5 years? How many of those were absolutely irrepairable?
So, the question comes to this: do I want to give away 1200$ right away, or keep the money and have to POSSIBLY give it away in future. 1200$ is the cost to replace ALL 4 tires. Save the money for a new set of tires.

Runflats are not repairable, doesn't matter where the hole is
