for 50i ownsers: any lag on the X6 50i?

For all you X6 50i owners. Is there a lag? There was all this talk about there being lag before just curious if its there in the final product. Thanks

I have driven 1000 mostly highway miles, and have not yet noticed any lag. Getting good mileage too, around 20. Cheers! -ad

I have not noticed any turbo lag either. autodahn, I guarantee you will not get close to 20mpg in normal city driving. I am about to fill up my third tank and I have been getting 11.5-12.5 in city. On strictly highway/tollroad with a feather foot I was seeing around 18ish for the 15 miles I drove nonstop. I could see around 20ish if you do not change speeds or drive faster than 70.

I have not even been driving that aggressive and have only punched it once so I am guessing once I am broken in I will probably have to stomach around 13 or just under that number in city and lower if I drive aggressively.

I saw thhe 20 MPG and just laughed. I figured he was going by a trip computer and not actual gallons vs. mileage.

If an X5 or X6 V8 got 20MPG mixed driving, believe me, they would be all over the news.

It depends on your definition of "mixed". As I said, it was mostly highway, 1000 miles between Spartanburg and Houston. Are you saying the computers are defective?

Sorry, I was referring to the following post I made on another thread (mpg posts are cropping up everywhere!):

"Well, all I can say is I just drove my xDrive50i home from Spartanburg and got an indicated 20.8 mpg on the highway! I haven't done much city driving yet, so I will keep you posted. BTW, my dealer's service rep says the computer is "pretty accurate" even though BMWs overestimate speed up to 100 mph, then underestimate 100+ (so that 100 mph is dead on). Can anybody else verify this? Cheers! Ad"

You are correct. My mistake.

I was thinking mixed. I believe the X6 V8 will achieve at least 20MPG HWY, even more after break-in. My neighbor's X5 V8 will get 20 HWY and up to 24 on flat roads.

I have almost 3k miles on my 3.5TT, and achieve 22-24 HWY. Not great, but I think awesome considering the type of vehicle it is.

Hi chuck,

That is truly impressive mpg! They gave me a xdrive35i to drive on the performance center track, and that engine is amazing! I realized I would be perfectly happy with it, especially at the everyday driving levels in normal use...even at "racetrack" level (or as close as I could get) it was also an incredible performer...I had no problem staying with the 650 ahead of me, even managed to keep the M3 from running up my tailpipe! My decision on the TTV8 was solely that I wanted a V8. Believe it or not, I have never owned a V8 powered car! But of course it makes no practcal sense at all, it was just "time".

Cheers! -ad
