Over Heating Engine Warning!!!

My X6 have been with the shop for 11 days due to an error massage related to an over-heating engine.
I first noticed the problem when I started the car last week Sunday(July 26th) morning.
I thought that was a bit odd since the car have been parked over-night. My thoughts were a faulty sensor or the conduit between the sensor and the processing unit.
Took the car to dealers and they thought it was the auxillary water pump, replaced that and still have the same problem.
As of the moment, they are trying to get someone from BMW to look at the problem.

how high was the temp. gauge reading?
Over heating rom a cold/ standing engine usually is an electrical short circuit.

At the very low end:cold start.
My suspicion as well, either the sensor or the conduit.
