I don't find it ridiculous... Okay, yeah I'm an X5 owner, but when looking between the X5 and the X6, I preferred to have seating for upto 7 versus seating for 4... The New X6 coming out makes up for it with seating for 5 (including driver) but it's too little, too late. If the X6 had been available with seating for 5 from the get go, sales may have been a lot better... Hell even the small 3 series can seat upto 5... The X6 doesn't give you the same utility as a traditional SAV (x5 or X3). Don't get me wrong, you look good in an X6, but functionality, it's just not the same.. Just my .02 cents

This is grossly inaccurate as bmw never intended x6 to be a car produced for the masses. As far as I know, x6 is selling BETTER than BMW expected when it decided to produce the car. All of the x models are produced in SC for the whole world and bmw just doubled its production targets this year. Part of the increase is driven by the demand for the newly redesigned x3 and part by the continued strong demand for x5 but make no mistake, bmw is happy with the sales of x6.

Totally disagree here
It's perfect car for me and many other people
1. It seats 5 comfortably
2. It has ground clearance of X5 and it's pretty good offroader
3. Cargo space bigger than my dad's Audi Q5 or friends X3,
4. It rides better than any SUV on the planet!

For family with 1-2 kids it's perfect

Disagree with the article as well. The X6 was designed for a niche market...not for the normal "soccer mom" crowd. It's definitely more an ethusiast's type vehicle. Nothing wrong with the other X's...each is made for differing crowds.

We bought the X6 for what it is.
Different from all the rest, including the X5.

I love that my X6 is the way it is. There are enough camry , civic etc. It's different and I love that there is not one on every corner.

I am glad the sales # is bad.

That means less X6 out there.

That means more unique my X6 is.

I don't like to be driving a common car.

I think Americans are a fickled bunch.

No telling what will appeal to them.

Case in point, the Pontiac Aztec, Honda Element, Scion XB, etc. Grossly ugly cars but folks buy them. Go figure.

Even the Porsche Panamera is a re-badged Audi but folks think it is a Porsche. It is all VW to me. Small, medium, large.

The X6 is a car designed not to appeal to the "average" person, therefore the "average" person won't like it.

I'm an early 30s single guy and the X6 is EXACTLY what I need - fast, handles incredibly well, can take me and three adults to the mountain, and doesn't look like I've taken out two child seats to do it.

It *is* however, a controversial car - the Top Gear review parody demonstrates the popular opinion that doesn't "understand" the X6.

Ultimately - who cares what others think tho? If *you* like it, and you're happy with the future residual (which is VERY good) then enjoy

I am glad there are not too many, I have had mine 2 years and have seen only three others on the road. Suprised I haven't seen you, I'm in North Haven, CT. After two years it is still a kick to drive and get alot of positive comments. Turn my lease in next March, hope they are still a good lease, may need to buy it.

If you buy a Ferrari you get 2 seats, we got 4 !! twice capacity for half the price.....X6 was made for people like us, people who don't want to drive a regular boring car, if seating is the issue, better buy a Minivan for 8 ......
