VAUROS' 2013 X5M Space Gray Journal

After weeks of researching X5Ms, talking to dealers, negotiating, haggling, etc, I finally pulled the trigger on one I found locally (I was originally going to buy one sight unseen in either Cali or Florida).

Specs:

Miles: 10,700
Comfort Access
Full LED Headlights
Navigation
Pano Roof
Driver's assistance (HUD)
Cold Weather
Extended Leather (beige)
22" 315 Wheels w/295f 335r
Roof Rails Delete!!! :-)

I'm planning to do quite of bit of modding and I'll likely start with the exterior mods first (EAS and IND here I come!)

*Update: Here are the pics after installing all of the mods except the gloss black emblem (no time to do it today)*

Latest pics:

Just curious how much... I got 2012 for 60k 16000 miles 16 months of warrenty left.... Love the rims and led head lamps... I test drove a 14 jeep srt and was not impressed for 70 k ++, plus I didn't like The styling Felt as if I was going back in technology.

Go velos tune and stock exhaust mod ( best 600 spent for a mod )

I paid $70k with 22 months of warranty left. Can you explain the stock exhaust mod and where I can get that Velos tune?

Thanks. I originally wanted white, but now that I have Space Gray I'm really digging it.

Did you just buy the one at South BMW? The Carbon Black one?

I also vouch for Velos tune, they are awesome, I'm very happy with the stage 2 that is currently on my car.

This is the stock exhaust mod, it's a good mod if you are budget limited, if not, Akrapovic full titanium is still the best

Congrats on the Space Grey, that was my first choice. But found a better deal on a Silverstone.

While velos is a nice mod, I think it is over priced for what it offers. Take a look at ActiveAutowerks, they are running 10% off this weekend. I am currently working them down to 900 for the tune as we have two x5ms to do.

Eurocharge is excellent as well:

No, I did inquire about that one, bought mine at Hendricks BMW, Backed into a great deal, got quoted a price and payments through BMW financial, truck had been CPO'd, I only keep my cars at best 1 year then trade, so CPO was not that important to me, especially the one i bought had low mileage, so at price point I was comfortable at they would only do if they removed the expensive M vehicle CPO, which I was ok with, so bought truck, signed papers and left then got call from dealer that the apr rate and terms are different on non CPO vehicles, so to get the rate and terms i signed for the vehicle had to be CPO unit, so they said my rate and terms changed and I said ill just bring it back and unwind the deal, they said no that they would honor the original deal and have to include the CPO at no charge to me, for this is how I got a great deal, the dealer Hendricks in Charleston SC, is a honest dealer and kept their word, for this I am a customer of theirs for the remaining time I purchase BMW products, even if I pay a little more, they went out of their way to keep deal even losing money, I'm also in car business, over 40 years and know ll the games, none were played at that dealer at all, upfront and honest two qualities that are rare in todays auto industry, buy my truck is same as Souths, $102k sticker, Black red interior, theirs just had more miles, i think 16k, but at $66 k is a good deal, if not gone, they also had white, that was my choice of color, white with with red but was missing opts and was not priced aggressively, Im very happy with mine, have 10 e63, also 08 m3 cab and 09 135i sport modded out, Currently this is by far my fav to drive, fast, plenty of room, and great styling, and I've owned just about every make imaginable, here is a list of my current and previous vehicles over the years, these were all personal cars but remember I'm in car business so i was able to trade lots of vehicles over the last 30 or so years, I am a true car enthusiast at heart!

I'm sure Omar can offer competitive pricing, do you get personal service and one on one attention that all his (Omar) customers with the purchase of the autowerks tune ?. is it a flash or piggy back off the ECU? You get what you pay for and Im a fan of good products regardless of price.

70k is a dam good price, I would have thought 72-75k. did they beat you up on the trade in?

Well, I financed an even $70K but the actual sales price was $73K. They gave me $17K for my trade and my payoff was $13,800. All-in-all, not a bad deal considering that the vehicle is virtually pristine inside and out and the miles are very low considering it was originally bought 06/2012.

I could have threatened to walk out if they didn't knock off another $2-3K, but I wasn't in the mood to go back and forth with them.

I'll likely do spacers, but I doubt I'll do springs because of the issue with bouncing and bottoming out. I feel that suspension should be done right or not at all, and in order to do it right I have to drop $2000 for KW Coils. I want to retain some 'utility' aspect of the vehicle and I plan to get an M4 at some point anyway, so no need to turn the X5M into a coupe.

Yes you get excellent one on one services with both Eurocharged and ActiveAutowerks. Both companies have excellent reputation just like Velos. I have gotten tunes from both companies on different cars. I am sure Velos is a excellent tune Just as Dinan offers a excellent tune.

And you are correct you get what you pay for, here is the math:

ActiveAutowerks: $ 1199.00 plus 10% off this weekend
86 RearWheel HP
117 Ft lb of Torque
http://store.activeautowerke.com/act...ware-p150.aspx

Eurocharged:$ 1199.00
85 RearWheel HP
110 Ft lb of Torque
http://www.eurocharged.com/products/...-tuning-detail

Velos: $ 2250.00
87 RWHP
101 ft lb
Based on Dyno graph on their website
http://velosdesignwerks.com/tuning/i...mance-software

Dinan $ 2999.00
55 RWHP
75lbs ft lb
http://dinancars.com/product/d900-44...ries&mid=1136/

Personally if Evolve made a tune for the X5M that is what I would have on my car as they do some amazing work.

Like you said you pay for what you get and even active and eurocharged are overpriced for a little software work.
