FS: 2012 BMW X5 Diesel
For Sale: 2012 BMW X5 xDrive35d (Diesel) Selling the most reliable vehicle I have ever had, minus the emissions controls (more below). Never been stranded, starts instantly in all conditions, even when it is minus 20 degrees. Suspension is tight, shifts smoothly, very comfortable for four adults, great cargo space, has the ability to tow effortlessly, and simply eats up highway miles. Key stats: • 136,xxx miles • Deep Sea Blue metallic exterior, Sand Beige “Nevada” Leather interior • 3L M57 Diesel engine: 265hp, 425 ft-lbs torque • Cold weather package: Heated steering wheel, ski bag, heated rear (& front) seats, retractable headlight washers • Premium package: Universal garage door opener, rear view camera with top view (2012 edition), rear manual side shades, interior mirror with compass, 4-zone climate control, navigation system, voice command. Comfort access is part of the package but is inoperable on this car • Space saver spare Reason for selling: Check Engine Light (CEL) is on. Diagnosis is that a new Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and a new Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve (EGR) are needed; estimate repair cost is $6k. At this stage the choice is to either repair to OEM spec, or perform an “ABC-delete.” I am interested in neither, so the car is offered for sale. The Good: • Second owner; I purchased the car from an elderly couple in Dallas in December 2018 • No accidents or bodywork • Every service record since new – I have the original window sticker, original bill of sale, every service receipt, warranty notice • BMW dealer installed a trailer hitch and Tekonsha P2 brake controller ($1800) • Very clean interior– rear bench rarely used, front passenger seat is near-new condition, only mild wear on driver seat. • No Stains, no odors; headlights & taillights are clear • Key preventative maintenance performed: o Fluid change for transfer case, front, rear differential (78,167) o Transmission fluid, filter & mechatronic sleeves replaced (79,335) o New battery (91,517; Jan 2021) o New coolant expansion tank (91,517) o New Thermostat (91,517) • All regular service (oil, fuel filter, brake fluid, DEF, cabin filters, etc done on schedule; all documentation on hand) • Tires are new: Full set of Continental ContiSportContact tires installed at 133,150 • Set of Michelin Ice-X winter tires mounted on Sport Edition wheels available for additional $500 The Not-So-Good: • CEL is illuminated; diagnosis that the DFP and EGR valve require replacement • Every panel, front & rear bumper has some minor chips or dings. Looks fine at 10 feet, but there are imperfections in the finish throughout. I have tried to capture this in the photos • Driver-side rear reflector cracked • Windshield has a significant rock chip at upper driver-side, right above field of vision. I purchased the car with the chip already present in 2018 with 64k miles. Intended to replace, but the chip was not a distraction for me, so left as-is • Front passenger door handle starting to exhibit “sticky handle” syndrome • Comfort access in inop Asking $7,000 OBO Last edited by GSM2; 10-04-2023 at 10:37 AM.. |
