Ed's Midnight Blue xDrive35i

I have been checking the web and no info, so I called. (Calling definitely gets you more information). My X6 was put on the schedule the 17th of January for production on 2/6/14.

I am not sure about buying maintenance (wipers and oil changes) but might go with longer warranty as I keep my cars for a long time.

My detailer says as soon as I get it to bring it by for paint sealant and UV protection. He also wants to put this thin gloss plastic "wrap" on it (like the hood and front bumper parts) to protect the paint. Not sure if I should do that or not yet.

I see a number of X6's online for sale with less than 10,000 miles on them.. don't know why, but it was a bit concerning to me.

This is my first BMW.. I was "made in Germany" and my X6 will be made in the USA.

Not sure about the plastic wrap. My car is 3 years old and I have 30K miles and it looks like new.

I would recommend an extended warranty as these cars are expensive to maintain. Mine has not been problem free but it is a great car and worth it.

Well maintenance is included for the first four years (and that's EVERYTHING except tires) as is the warranty. I do not recommend you purchase either extended options at this time. See if you keep the car for four (4) years and then decide (as long as you do it before the warranty runs out, you will be fine).

As for the paint sealant, well I'm not an expert in this stuff, however, I did read that you want to let the paint cure for at least 30 days before you put anything on it. Not knowing how long ago your truck was painted means that if it were mine, I would wait a bit before I let the detailer touch it. I also am not a fan of the wrap. Yes, it protects but it is a car (I mean Truck) so just drive it

PS - beautiful color. Post pics when you get it.

Let me know how that goes. Supposedly near impossible on a BMW and even worse if the dealer finds out.

Is autostart a new feature? I've had it on my Cadillacs and on my Charger.. would be a nice addition to the german cars especially in the winter! Could you give me some details on how you went about getting that done and which models its available on?

You won't see this on a German car in the near future (at least BMW). 1) it goes against "Efficient Dynamics" and 2) rumor has it, that it is illegal to idle a car in Germany for more than 20 seconds unattended.

Past remote starts required you to give up one of your keys to be integrated into the remote start system (the key would be destroyed as well) and to have lots of wires cut (bad for warranty claims .

However, a quick search shows this
http://www.ceoutlook.com/2013/07/03/...ip-next-month/

Which may be what the OP is having installed.
