Must have options on a X5.

Hey guys,
I'm looking to pick up a CPO X5, not sure what year (07,08,09). I was wondering what you guys thought might be the must have options for the X5. Any options that are a complete waste of money? Thanks for all your input.

smartphone integration is a total waste....everything else is basically worth it if you have a desire. Rear climate is also sort of worthless I feel.

I don't think there is a definitive answer to this question, the answer is always subjective. ie Ask 10 people this you'll get 10 different opinions.

For me, adaptive drive and HUD is important... but others will say its only bling and prefer to spend their $$$ on a M sports pack and 20" wheels. (Ask my wife and she'll answer metallic color paint job and sunroof are essential!).

All I can suggest is to test drive several models with different features and see what feels best for you.

For me, my Must Have's are:

1. Adaptive drive
2. Active steering
3. Heads Up Display
4. 20" wheels
5. Navigation
6. PDC
7. Leather Interior

Nice To Have :

1. pre-heating
2. Soft closing doors
3. individual premium stereo
4. Sun Roof
5. Adaptive lights

Can miss
1. leather dash (also a nice to have, but you wont miss it if you have never had it)

I like the panorama sunroof. I could live without comfort access. PDC is a must IMO. I don't have Sport Package but everybody who has it raves about it. Personally, I don't see the need for it but that's just my opinion.

The 4.8L engine is very thirsty so unless you absolutely need the extra power for whatever it is that you need it for then I would suggest to go 3.0L or the diesel engine.

The Navigation package also is not mandatory IMO especially for the price they are asking for it although you'll get the new one in the 2009 X5. For less than $300 you can get a Garmin NUVI that will do the job for you.

Good luck.
