Again a fantastic race from MAX !
Started 16th on the startgrid by the penalty of his engine replacement and drove on the podium...
2 min. later he got 5 sec. penalty , what a BS ?!?!

The rules are very clear regarding exeding the track limits in order to gain an advantage.
Phil, I know you're hot for young Max but c'mon

I heard it was Mika Salo. A former Finish Ferrari driver.

Correction it was Garry Conelly.

There are 3 race stewards plus 1 ex-driver as consultant (which changes every race).

In the post race interview Max said 1 steward has it out for him and said it was Garry Connelly (well he said his first name starts with G, so it was obvious who he was referring to).

And yet Kimi was exceeding the limits on that same lap to gain advantage and stay ahead of Max.

If you're going to enforce the rule, that's fine, but be consistent in its application.

The penalty seemed legit, but it was still a great move by Max to go for it since there was a chance that he wouldn't get penalized, and it was his last chance for an overtake.

The reason I think it's total bullshit is because Niki Lauda referenced a previous drivers' meeting where it was understood the fia would let races run the race without these petty calls. If road is there, use it. Especially all race long watching kimi cross that boundary.

Great drives by Lewis,Max and Seb. I can't stand when drivers are allowed to cut chicanes to keep their positions as often happens. Passing someone by going off the track is just as bad. It's the right call to penalize it but I think it needs to be ruled and enforced while the cars are still racing by position swap. If they can't decide before the checkered flag it should be dropped or handled by grid spot penalties. The way it was handled today sucks balls.

How about early in the race when Ricciardo passed Bottas into turn one. Bottas went off track by 3 car lengths, he gained an advantage by staying in front going down into turn 2. He did it twice actually. If you are going to call it, call it every time. I was at the race, everyone cheered big time when Max made that pass. People were pissed to hear about the penalty. Way to ruin a fantastic race and the best USGP to date. COTA must have new management, because everything was done perfectly this weekend. Driver introductions were fun.

Love the move by Max, it was ballsy. But I wasn't surprised the penalty came through, especially the on-board showed all four wheels cutting the corner to stay ahead.

I was hoping to see Max on the podium, and someone stop him from drinking the champagne. Since the dutch is still under 21!

I believe COTA also learned from past mistakes.
Also the new FOM Liberty Media knows how to host a great show.
