Camshaft??? - Signs of bad things to come??
Hello,
So to make a long story short. - I have a BMW X6 2008 - Engine Malfunction reduced power came on. - Took it to dealer (Warranty (45K Miles) - Dealer (Service Adviser) just called and he told me that they found out that the camshaft is not turning properly and needs to be replaced. this is causing the engine malfunction light to come on. So, Is this a bad sign? More bad things to come with my car? Does anyone had a similar problem? Any feedback or comment greatly appreciated. |

I got my car back and this is what they replaced/did to it:
- Sleeve - Set ALU SCREWS - CYLINDER HEAD COVER - BEARING LEDGE EXHAU - COLLAR SCREW -PROFILE GASKET -DECOUPLING ELEMENT -GASKET RING -GASKET -COLLAR NUT Comment section; They found the camshaft ledges to have worn groves from the compression rings. Necessary to replace ledges and compression rings. After that the found that oil was leaking from the valve cover gasket due to a crack in the valve cover. I just wonder if all this was normal wear and tear on the car? Or I actually got a really crappy build? |
