Winter Set Up

Just picked up a 2013 X5 with the Sports Package with Y spoke 20' rims. I am located in NJ and it is freezing. The tires are for the summer and I am looking for a winter set. My buddy has a set but not sure if they would fit on my car. They came from a 2004 X5 the size is 285/45 r19 107h, that's what's on the tire. Does anyone know if they will work?

Forget the tires, I don't believe the wheels will fit your hubs. You may be able to find an adapter to make them work.

Right. The hubs on the old X5s are smaller, so they won't fit your X5, and the only way to get them to fit is to bore out the wheels themselves.

or a spacer/reducer.

I think there still a couple of snow tire sets for sale on this forum as well.

I was actually looking for this same thing, since I want to run X5M wheels on my non-M X5, however they do not exist. Sadly boring the 72.6mm hub to 74.1mm is the only option.

I think you can get reducers, but they may not be available off the shelf. Here's a place that looks like they make them:

http://www.motorsport-tech.com/4DCGI...makemodel.html

I will sell you my stock X5M wheels!

Wow, that's a good find. Looks like you can make it happen, though the minimum adapter thickness is 19mm. I'll have to look into them a bit more and see what kind of tolerances they balance them out to.

Which stock wheels do you have - 299m or 300m?

This same place sells adapter rings to fit on the base X5 hub to decrease the hub size to the X5M size. I started this same thread on Bimmerfest today also. There is a spacer/decreaser on Amazon below:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...A23ID4AZTDBV78

Hope none of you are trying to get the same X5M wheels I am! Good luck, though seriously. The first person to get this installed please post pics!

The adapter rings (to make a larger hub wheel fit on a smaller hub vehicle) are just hub-centric rings, which can be found at almost any tire shop.

The custom spacer/adapters from UpstateX5M's link seem to be the only viable option (aside from wheel boring) to get M wheels to fit on the non-M or E53 wheels to fit on the E70.

The adapters in the Amazon link (as well as the adapters H&R makes) are for the 5 Series which has a smaller size wheel bolt...and won't fit the X5. You can check with Turner, and they will tell you the same thing. There was one guy who ordered them anyway, and them just to be sure, and they ended up not fitting.

Thanks for the advice! Appreciate that everyone likely knows more about this than me for sure.

But, actually it looks that that website has an error. If you plug in 2013 X5 it shows as having a 72.56 hub, but it's actually 74.1. The '13 didn't change from '12 did it?

Here's the scoop...

E53 X5 = 72.56mm front/rear
E70 X5 = 74.1mm front/rear
E70 X5M, E71 X6/X6M = 74.1mm front, 72.56mm rear

That's exactly what I thought. I guess someone will bring it to the attention of the website at some point. Thanks for confirming/clarifying.
