On my way to work this morning at 0530hrs, a taxi cab flies by me at a high rate of speed and cuts me off to take an exit. As I continue on the freeway I see the cab slam on the brakes and attempt to get back onto the freeway. As a result, as I was passing the cab it pit maneuvered me by hitting my rear right passenger side while entering the freeway again. The X5M slid out of control and I crashed into the barrier wall on the right shoulder of the road causing me to roll over. I walked out with some bumps and bruises but I'm ok. The taxi cab fled the scene.
But it just goes to show you the quality and safety that BMW puts into their Ultimate Driving Machines! |

Incredible. Same day you walk safely ( best of all is good health) and you can share pic's. I have always preached larger is safer and the German vehicles are very safely built compared to others. Yes, others may be more reliable but when something like this happens, I would rather be in a German structure any day. And for those who are concerned about gas mileage, I would gladly pay more safety insurance at the gas pumps any day.
Be well |

Ouch..!! That's a mess. You are a luck man. Glad that you are ok.
Sorry for the loss though, it's just hurts to see a vehicle you spent so much time and money on to go away like that.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Yeah, I'm definitely lucky to be in good health after a mean roll over like that.
And to Barcelona, I couldn't agree more man...I'll pay the extra money for safety any day. |

Glad to hear you're safe, that must've been a nightmare. Hope everything works out to your benefit. Karma will catch up to that cab driver.

Glad you're OK. From what you describe, it sounds like the cab was driving like it was being chased. Did you inquire with the CHP if they were in pursuit of said vehicle before it took you out?

Glad you are ok OP. that is a serious wreck. Couldn't agree more how safe this car is. I was rear ended at 55mph over the summer and everyone walked away with no major trauma.
What an asshole to the cab though. Call local cab shops and see if any came in damaged |

Happy to see you fine, the first photo is unreal when you say were walking away with no injuries. Best wishes, one more word of caution with suicidal drivers around us.

I would hope so. Potentially any other vehicle and that could of been vehicular man slaughter.
Hey OP, I do hope you get another new X5M to replace your other girl |

Haha, thanks a lot guys, yes there will definitely be a replacement! If it weren't for the necessity of an SUV for my two dobermans, I would get an M6. But alas, I must stick with the X5M.
Yeah, CHP is pretty good about investigating these crimes. I'm also doing my own hunting so we'll see where this goes. |

Wow! Glad you walked out of that under your own power. I hope the scumbag that hit you is found, and gets some jail time.
