X6 3.5d
Just had a test in X5 3.5d.
With exception of a very slight delay in response fr. a standing start, the engine is seamless & powerful like a v8! It's mind boggling! Why the diesel is not an option in North America in this age of reduced consumption ?? When Europe & Australia has it. Is somebody asleep @ BMW? Maybe BMW wants to give MB a head start w/ their Bluetec? |

The other countries do not care about pollution and their air quality shows it. The diesels now meet EPA guidelines and are starting to flow into the U.S. If you look around the world, most countries ignore safety and pollution standards. Probably because the cars are too expensive as it is with socialism and high fuel prices.

"very slight delay in response fr. a standing start" yep, that was also my perception in a week. But I am still re-adapting to automatic drive, and cannot push the engine too hard since I am still breaking it in. I was told to stay below 3000-3500 RPM for the first 1500 miles.. .or at least try to.
Testing the panzer at red lights, even if it seems to me as a tank, and taking off with some effort, I don't know why I see in the mirrors the headlights of other cars that took off on the same line with me at green light. . .after a few seconds. |

I will maybe consider the p-tronic when I'll get bored with actual performance. .but that's not for tomorrow. .I might first see the power gains from a custom sport exhaust like Remus. . .then I might consider if to fumble with the chips. Anyway, power chips are sooner or later messing up the whole combo. . I don't want to spend zilions in the service shop to fix a sophisticated engine that's been over-pumped, electronically. Hey, I know that race cars are not world famous for their reliability. . race after race. .they put to pieces all the race cars after each race. . wonder why?!!?

john, damn, put a complete spec of this p-tronic. All your chipped cars are still in your garage? Any complaint at all? Nothing? Not even a turbo failure? Come on, you can tell us, our lips are sealed. How about mileage?!
