Roof Rails for X6?
I'm planning to purchase a set of aluminum roof rails for my X6
but upon further inspection, I noticed that my roof mouldings dont have any openings on them for the roof rails to be bolted. they dont have this : http://i879.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/IMG_6544.jpg So are the roof rails compatible with my X6? see my attachments for reference thanks |

I remember someone else asking this. I think they were told you must and can get the parts from BMW that allow the rails. It requires replacing the mouldings I think.

You need the trim number 5 with the holes in it - I have the opposite problem!

You could wait and if you ever have an accident where the airbags go off and bam! The headliner will be right out of ther for you. (Headliner, steering wheel, maybe dash, probably windshield...)
One of the hitches with that plan is that you may not get the car back, which is a bummer. |

I've searched the part number, its 51137250399 (left) and 51137250400 (right) around 130usd EACH. Quite expensive for a piece of plastic! Can't I just have a professional drill the needed holes on my existing roof moulding? Is attaching roof rail an easy bolt on? or should I still remove the headliner? Thanks |
