Hi everyone,

I currently own a 2011 X5 35i with 62,000kms or just under 40,000miles.

I've had one injector replaced less than 10,000kms ago. At the time I noticed misfiring including a rough idle and lumpy acceleration, even a noise from the injector rattling. The injector was actually missing the o-ring but thankfully no head damage. I am mostly concerned because the injector they pulled out of the last failure wasn't original to the car. I did not own the car when that work was performed. That means this is at minimum the 3rd injector for that particular cylinder.

The car is now feeling awfully similar and I suspect the exact same problem. Cylinder and injector number to be determined.

My questions are: should I fix and ditch the car (especially if it's the same injector/o-ring failure)? Does this indicate I have a lemon or potentially head problems? Was it stupid not to replace all six injectors last time the failure occurred?

I'm waiting on the formal diagnosis and will update once confirmed but appreciate hearing from those who have experienced the same or similar issues.

Thanks in advance

Well, I was correct. Another failed injector (different bank) although it wasn't the o-ring that was missing.

Now they're taking out all 6 to inspect and likely replacing the 5 old ones (currently version 9) with version 13.

$3000 later..... two weeks after I just bought a 13 535. Ugh!

N63 and S63 engines have recalls for the injector. It weird that the N55 doesn't have one.

Injectors with index lower than 11 are bound to fail

Here's an old bulletin.

Try to go with the BMW emission warranty, that old indexes shouldn't be mixed, etc...

Sadly we Canadians don't benefit from the same recalls.

Interesting. I take it to an Indy shop as it's far from warranty. It's called Vitek Autowerks
