Hey guys, waking this back up. So far the car has been in the shop for a week and a half. I had them try everything recommended in this link, and they are testing the alternator. The changed the battery, changed the transmission fluid and pan filter they said it is a little better but still present.
They are not seeing any errors but its still there, we will see when i pick up the car how it runs. |

I got the car back and it rides the same, so far i have done the following:
- Change all plugs - change all coils - change transmission fluid and filter - change battery - ran electrical test - ran software test - found that i have index 11 injectors No check engine light, looking like transmission issue but i have nothing that proves this. I am game for any other recommendations. hoping to help anyone in the future that has experienced these issues. Can we log the run and see what data i can pull off the car? |

I am also having a problem with my 2011 50i. Was driving normally And suddenly I got a check engine light and idrive saying “engine malfunction, reduced output”. I then got the x5 towed to my usual shop. The check engine light codes were: P0306, 2B1D1, 2B1C1.
The owner of the shop said we can try replace the spark plug and coil pack for cylinder 6 misfire. So he replaced it and no change. aNyone ever have these codes and problems before?car is not drivable, when you rev the engine there is a ticking knocking sound. |

'Jerking' may be a different descriptor to some people then it may be to you. Generally speaking, sometimes a failed torque converter lockup clutch can cause a 'jerking' on acceleration. My Thunderbird does that right now, and it has a bad torque converter, specifically a bad lockup clutch.

I know you are in MD, anyone know of a good indy in so-cal, so far it seems as if the ones with a good reputation are a little lost when it comes to working on an x5. I need to get the car to the dealer to do some recall work, so i will have them diagnose it and see what they come up with. |

Have you checked out https://www.allgermanauto.com/home ? These guys made the n63 valve stem repair tool that allows for doing the job without dropping the engine. I’d give them a shot if you haven’t already.

Finally resolved the issue and I would have never guessed it. Found that the outside of my front tires were wearing thin. Took the car in to get a new set of tires and had an alignment done. The car runs fine now. Doesnt make sense to me but I had the alignment done when i bought all 4 new tires 6 months ago but thats about the time the problem started.
So far the car runs like a brand new car now. |

Hmmm, interesting. Or, could the new rubber be masking it to some degree?
I had what I thought was a TC issue, that 'crabbing' feeling when turning almost full lock in the parking deck... I happened to put new tires on it and it DID feel better... for a few weeks, then it came back. Turns out the dealer diagnosed the bad TC and replaced 6 days before my warranty ran out (yes!). So, not sure in your case but be wary of the 'new tires solved it'. Unless somehow your fronts got worn a lot more than the rears, going over the allowable difference, and your new set solved that...? Pls update if things change.

This is a common issue with many different modern AWD systems (and stability traction systems to), its is not isolated to BMW, so keep that in mind. I have had this before on customer vehicles before.

it was the transfer case all along, figured i would update this thread as the maybe alot of folks experiencing these same issue.
i pulled fuse f92 to diagnose the issue, its in the trunk area, much easier to diagnose this way versus getting under the car and looking for the connector. |
