New X5 arrived at my dealer.

My dealer got two X5's on Saturday. One is space gray and one is black. It looks really nice in person. Definitely a nice change from the outgoing model. I like the space gray much better on the X5 than on the E92. There were quite a few people gathered around them on Saturday. No test drives yet as they haven't prepped them.

Anyone else seen it in person yet?

Ick .... hope it looks a lot better in person. Design is just (especially the front) way too busy. Reminds me of current MB styling ... which reminds me of mid80's pontiac. Just too much going on and no elegance.

The E70 is by far the best redesign BMW has done in years.

They managed to keep the hard lines of the old X5 and still create an updated look with the front and the tail lights. Tail lights havent been BMW's strong point lately but they got these right as it looks like they borrowed them from the 7er.

Huh?

Look at the front, there's just cut lines and plastic tacked on cladding going everywhere.

Sometimes I think if they put a BMW badge on a piece of poop people'd still think it looked good.

It's a shame they don't allow the combination of ventilated front seats with Tobacco leather (as that trim is not perforated).

Going to test drive the E70 3.0 and 4.8 tomorrow morning.

Must...resist...templation.....

Snapped this on the camera phone today. Initial impression is that it looks different in the metal than in the press photo's. Lower/wider stance than expected. Must handle very well for an SUV. Will know soon enough.

'07 loaded 3.0si $62k ouch ...

this X5 was very nice in person & being delivered today to it new owner... but $62,000 for a 3.0 sport... wtf.

the sport seats in grey looked great... finally a heated steering wheel option with the sport pkg. it also had 19s.

4.8i X5 test drive...

well today i was able to enjoy an extended test drive of an 07' 4.8i (w/o a co-pilot...sales rep). i had the X5 for over an hour. my thoughts at first were a tad of disappointment... maybe i was the color combo (black/tan)... maybe it was the lack of the sport pkg... or maybe it was just my reluctance to change. with almost all recent released bmws... it requires some time for them to grow on me styling. (prior bmws... '00 323 ci sport, '01 X5 4.4i sport, '02 M3, '06 330i sport).

i really need to see a 4.8 sport in my color preference and preferred options (4.8 white/tobacco/sport with 20's) to get an idea of the complete package for my taste. rims really make a bmw and give it the look i desire... muscular yet sporty.

the overall driving experience was quite enjoyable... the power & sound of the V8 is outstanding.

the interior is layout is very nice (but the beige interior didn't cut it... looked kinda cheap to me). the gray interior with sport seats... looked 100 times better imo. the cargo cover was another annoying difficult removable unit. i was hoping bmw would improve on this area. the shifter was very nice in person... it fit your hand perfectly.

after about 30 minutes or so... i was feeling quite comfortable behind the wheel.

a bit of a mixed review... likes & dislikes for the time being.
