Spilled gas on rear deck
I had a gas can on the rear trunk deck and it leaked a little gas on the carpet.
1. Does anyone have a good idea how to clean? I can't get the smell out 2. Does anyone know how to get the cover out of the car? 3. If I can't get the smell out, does anyone know the part number for the cover? Thanks |

Try putting baking powder on the area where you spilled. Let it sit for a while and vacuum it up. Also get one of the boxes of baking soda that are for the fridge and put one in the back for a few days. Finally some good carpet cleaner like adam's polishes carpet cleaner.

yes. I haven't found the right part number, but its looking like its a $400 part based on other models I have found schematics for. That's more than I want to spend but I might have to if I can't get the smell out.

Soak overnight with baby oil (scented if you want), and the next day wash it off with water, vinegar, and baking soda. Then finally use some sort of automotive carpet cleaner. The baby oil is old base and should help remove the small traces of gasoline out of the fibers.
