funny how just inserting a disc can hijack the computer and change the programming like that.
very cool, but a little scary.

and sorry folks, i know we're all grown-ups here but i just gotta say...
please everyone keep your x6s nice and pretty (and in one piece!). enjoy the drive, stay sharp, eyes on the road, for your sake and for the safety of all those with whom you share the road.

I was a little hesitant about going with the guy from singapore disk method but you seem to be the third person on this forum that has done it. How long ago did you do the update? Have you experienced any issues or changes with you idrive system since the upgrade?

I did the DVD in motion. Worked perfectly. I just ran the idrive update a couple of days ago and it still works perfectly. Simple and no glitches. I just bought mine from the website and burned the download to a cd. It worked just as advertised.

It was expensive but I don't know why the guy doesn't just do a menu of code changes for all the other stuff you can change. He'd probably make a small fortune because even though I have a good IT hacking background and went to the coding forums, I was just too lazy to do it myself

No issues at all, got it since middle of December, the guy from Singapore ( Zhong) is an honest person, also he is kind of a computer geek, he work in one of the biggest celular companies in the world, Huawei from China, at the R&D dept branch in Singapore, so he knows what he is doing

When this was brought up last month/year, I belive the guy in Singapore was offering a "group-on" for the disks used in the DVD in motion unlocking process. You in...?

I would like to do this upgrade as well so lets see if we can get this group discount if you want to jump in on this... Let me know.

"groupon" is when a retailer or distributer is willing to knock off a few bucks from the original quoted price if a few people get together and buy multiple copies of the same item... in other words, if 4 or 5 people contact him at the same time for the disks, he may charge each person a discounted price on each disk since he is selling 4-5 disks at the same time...

Thanks for the heads up. Maybe if you PM me the adress to the place or some contact information for someone there, I will definitely check them out. I wanted to do this upgrade for three years because I had it in my last car... but I was nervous to mess around with the computer sysytem for the X6 and because the X6 was kinda "unfamiliar" to most after market places at the time I was looking into getting it done, I backed off.

Now because the X6 has beem out for a while, I'm sure the guys who can do the coding have a good handle on things so let me know. Even if your guy wants to do both of our cars at the same time, let me know... we can work something out.

I like to join in on this, but:

Is it possible for the dealer to find out? Is there a way to uninstall it before we bring the car in for maintenance?
