N55 Injector Issue!

Hi all!

Needing help with an injector issue I’ve been having.

Car was chuffing and stank of fuel so I had the injector replaced. It was explained to me that it wasn’t sealing properly due to movement from the injector, so the seal and bracket were also replaced.

The car was running fine until I started hearing a weird noise (no symptoms yet) and it was progressively getting louder as I was driving the car (over a week or two).

Weird noise video here:

The car has essentially gone back to square one and is chuffing again, lurching if in drive (auto) and stinking of fuel.

What could be causing the injector to not seat properly if the bracket and seal have been changed?

It could be a few things. Was the decoupling element replaced? Was the teflon seal compressed properly? They are both one time use. If the injector was not installed correctly, you could have had combustion escaping through the injector port causing damage to the head.

The car is going back to the garage that fitted the bracket and seal.

I’m not too clued up on the intricacies so can’t speak as to if the seal was compressed properly or if the decoupling element was replaced but thank you for asking - it gives me some insight to question the garage.

I’m hoping no damage to the head 🥲

Cylinder head needs replacing or you can use the heli-coil style kit to repair the hole. The decoupling element wasn't installed, which in turn ruined the cylinder head.

For when I take it back to the garage, what makes you so sure it’s this?

Any more info on the heli-coil style kit?

Because its the only reason that would cause a loose injector. They are press fit into the head.

I know the engines are ticky by nature but this seems like a new noise:
