Diesel dream

Hi, I’m in the market for an X5 M57 Diesel in the USA. My question is: which years were these engines put into these cars. The research I’ve done so far is steering be away from the n57 for their serviceability when it comes to replacing the chain. Current daily driver is a 2002 X5 sport with a manual transmission with 272k miles. Same clutch. I want something newer and reliable so I can start to work on the old girl and make her nice again.

N57 drama is MOSTLY rumors from engines that were in Europe and a different turbo set up.
That being said as of late ive seen posts in the groups that the m57 has the same issue although less frequently.
