My (new to me) X5!

Hello All. I'm active over on the M3 boards with my 2016 F80. I recently got a good deal on a low-mile (65k) 07 X5 pretty much fully loaded.

I put some 20" bmw replica 451 black wheels and Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 tires on it (315/35 rear and 275/40 front). Before anyone says it yes I know I need to get the extended arch trim. :-) I also added the black grill and did a little bit of coding. It's my daily driver as the M3 lives in the garage all winter and on rainy days. Excited to learn more about the X family!

M3 for those interested...

Looking good! Btw you need wheel arches, badly.

I too have a X5 M3 combo, we would have the same combo if you didn't sell your E90 M3.

Go buckeyes!

Thanks! Yeah My E90 was sweet! I miss it also but love the F80 as well. The F80 was the first ever brand new car I've purchased (out of 17) so it's my new baby.

Wheel arches for the X5 will be ordered soon!

Go Bucks!

I gotta say, Columbus area is one great area to own a car. Minimum traffic jams, open roads. Plenty of parking

Totally. Columbus is great. I lived in Queens for 2.5 years. Loved the place but had no idea why people bought nice cars. They can't really drive them like they should and the roads are terrible. Not to mention almost every car ends up with terrible bumper damage from all the parallel parking. It's one of the reasons to this day I don't buy used Cars from the NYC area. 99% have repainted bumpers or other paint work.

^yeah, I know, I see that all the time in NYC. I live in SF, and luckily it's not as bad as NY. Here people still own garages and there are reasonable amounts of street parking depending on where you live. Here in SF, I'm starting to see people with that stupid bumper bully rubber pad on their bumper. That's just giving people the green light to tap you...

What brought you to Columbus?

BTW, funny story, during the recession times in 2010, Ohio was hit pretty hard, and cars like the M3 were definitely hard to come by...I lived in DC at the time and drove my E90 M3 to visit my parents in Powell a few times. Even in Powell, I get some thumbs up from people, as if they've never seen a new M3 or something....lol, whereas in DC, I probably saw E9X M3 everyday. I would imagine an F80 is pretty damn rare today, even in good times.

Actually I'm from C-Bus. Was living in NY for a few years for work. You're right M3's are rather uncommon although they seem to be growing in numbers. Actually Columbus area (Powell, Dublin, Worthington, UA) seem to have a ton of high-end cars. Midwestern Auto Group and The Toy Barn in Dublin carry a lot of high-end Euro and Italian Exotics. It's really not unusual to see things like Ferrari or Lambo's out on nice days in the summer. I actually saw far less in NYC when I was there because of how hard it is to own and keep a nice car even if you have the financial means. I imagine they are more common up in Westchester and CT where the people can afford them and also have room to drive.

What I miss about my E90 M3 was that the color was super rare. It was Sparkling Graphite which was only available in MY2008. I remember seeing the production numbers and I think it was one of only 228 or so in the 4 door that made it to the states. With the fox red interior it really was sweet. I do like my F80 in Tanzanite Blue which is an "individual" color that seems to have been a little less common than some of the others.
