Running boards on M sport package?

I drive a 2012 x5 50 m sport package. However, I like the look the running boards give the car. Does anyone know if the running boads can be installed wiht the M Sport Package?

was told it cant be bolted on because of the flared arches and might look naft?

This is what I got from a getbmwparts.com internet parts manager after I gave him my vin...
"Unfortunately, these are not compatible with vehicles equipped with the M Sports Package."

which sucks cause I really like how the running boards give it a wider 'meaner' stance.

They will fit no problem. However the rear flare sticks out about 1.5" beyond the running board. Some people may not like the look. However it will fit. I am looking to get rid of my steps for the M sport rockers if you want to make a deal? Keep in mind I powder coated the steps from aluminum to gloss black?
