Bmw x6 flames from exaust
Hello. I have bmw x6 50i. It has flames from exaust when shifts from 1st gear to the second and so on. Is it normal? Is it an option or every 50is have the same? Car is absolutely stock. Does not have any problem, tested with BMW explorer.

Just a quick opinion from a non X5/X6 owner.
If you have flames, you have unburned fuel making it all the way through the exhaust system. Best case, there is combustion happening where it's not intended... heat & pressure will probably damage stuff over the long term. Worst case, you have a fuel delivery problem that could be a serious safety concern. Or... Your car was madden... Are you SURE you still have catalytic converter(s)??? |

Car is checked in bmw dealership. They said that everything is ok and there are limited versions of x6 with black exausts which car flames from that exaust. Do not know is this information correct or not.

Wow I find this suspect....here is a company that won't enable auto closing rear hatch from remote because of liability issue, but will design an exhaust that throws flames? I would get another opinion I have never heard of this with an X5/X6 except if the cats are removed and car has a tune.

Certainly a bit of a bizarre thread. Don't think I remember seeing a flame thrower option on the X6. When you run the VIN, what shows up?

I'm interested to see where this goes... there has to be something going on here.
Flames shooting from the exhaust system is not typical. If one model did that, there would be a million threads where owners of other models would show up asking how to replicate the "afterburners", etc. The fact that we haven't seen those threads is pretty good evidence that this is unusual. Try calling BMW directly. Either way, please let us know what you find! |

Unusual or outright bull. Can you imagine what barriers are in place to eliminate any possibility of flames out the exhaust?
