Cricket Sound
When i have the ac/heat on there is a sound of cricket in the cabin. when i turn it off it goes away. any ideas? its driving crazy!!! Thanks.
Also the the cricket noise gets louder when i am turning left. But if the ac/heat is off no noise at all when turning left or stepping on brake. Last edited by kong.kham; 03-24-2015 at 08:11 AM.. |

Is it limited to the front or rear climate control, assuming you have rear climate control? I ask because I was chasing a droning noise, almost like a tuning fork had been hit. I finally isolated it to the rear blower.

I had this issue on my 2007 E70. There was a blower motor which was messed up. It would make noise whin we turned right at speed.

probably a bad bearing in the blower motor, like MRV99 said. Common problem with X5 (and also Porsche Cayennes for some reason). I think Ive had the blower motor replaced in every X5 ive owned (4+).

Kong.Kham, I have the same issue. Please let me know if the replacement blower fixes it. I just sold my M3 and picked up an X5M and the only thing wrong is EXACTLY what you describe. Left turn only. Crazy. Thanks for your updates!

Its the blower motor. I had to record it on my phone to have it replaced under warranty as the dealership couldn't replicate it

I believe I have the same problem. It's definitely coming from the rear motor. If I shut it off then it stops. Not covered under CPO I have been told. Rather annoying. Would love an easy fix.

Coincidentally this noise started happening in the rear shortly after I read this thread the first time. Thankfully, for now, the lowest speed setting is still quiet -- only high speed fan makes the noise.

frustrating
I noticed this sound 5-6 months ago when my car was still under factory warranty but never got around to getting it looked at since I had an extended CPO warranty that picked up at the first of the year....no it looks like Im SOL
Wanted to bump this thread to see if anyone managed to fix this themselves... Anybody have any luck getting this covered under CPO? Drives me nuts that it is a "noise" but the solution is replacing the mechanical part causing the "noise"....definitely a manufacturing failure. Its not like this is trunk/dash rattling that occurs in every car as it ages. |
