X6 Sirius Radio

My X6 has bad satelite reception in the CT. Bringing it back to have the dealer check, Sirius tells me its a BMW problem. How is your satelite reception?

Had the dealer check the Sirius radio today since Sirius told me it was a car problem. Sirius told them today the bad reception was normal. My XM doesn't do this, a tree will make it skip, terribly on rainny days. I put my xm reciever in the car so they could compare the receptions. I requested they remove Sirius, we will see what they do, the manager was out.

I only notice mine going out under bridges but it is pretty bad. I drive under a bridge for about 3-5 seconds just going thru an intersection and it will go out for about 5-10 seconds. It seems noticeably worse than all of the rental cars I have received with XM in them.

I got my new X6 on Tuesday. I have two other cars with XM. I drive the same way to work every day, the XM radios are flawless, the Sirius radio in my BMW cuts out for trees, bridges, stop lights ... what gives? I'm trying to figure out if I should take it back to the dealership? I called Sirius, the rocket scientist there said it's a BMW problem.

I am in San Diego too. Same issue. I have heard that XM has more terrestrial repeaters where Sirius only relies on satellite.

The dealer called Sirius, say this reception is normal, even though XM is much better. Apparently the XM satelittes are lower and XM uses a longer delay so smaller gaps can be filled. The dealer agreed to credit the $ for something else, may add the CD or IPOD option.
