OBD II Scanner
Hey guys,
Which scanner are you guys using? My cars are all under warranty but I would like to keep a stand alone device in the glove box just in case. I'm looking at the icarsoft scanner which seem to be a nice device but thats all based on youtube videos. In the past I've used the BT scanner and liked it but I'm looking for a stand alone device with a LCD that does not need a computer to display error codes. Thanks |

I was at the shop the other day to pull a code and the tech was using this EasyDiag app. You buy the BT dongle from them and you're good to go. I don't know how good it is but he got the code and cleared it. It at least does that haha.

Not sure if you have a Harbor Freight in your neck of the woods, but there are some sales going on for a handheld unit as low as $69. From there it goes up to closer to $200 for units that are update-able, works on more cars, etc...

My buddy just bought (I used it to check and clear a code on the X) an Autel Maxiscan MS300 scanner. It looked pretty basic, but it read and cleared the codes without any trouble. He paid $20 for it on Amazon...
If you just want an easy/basic standalone unit, this one is perfect. The next time my light pops on, I'll be buying one.

I think the BMW What App is fantastic and user friendly for coding.
I prefer the iobd2 device for diagnosing and clearing codes. |
