Their is a T piece that should be under your rear cargo cover near where your spare would be if you don't have one. You will pull up the cupholder rubber and that is where you will insert this piece to shift it into neutral. If you have your owners manual it will give it a bit more detail, so pull that out to reference what you need to do!

P1et, save yourself the trouble and keep "just search, stupid" in a text editor and copy/paste. The Z4 forum is so much more helpful than this one. People actually try to help, even if the question has been asked a few times. It takes about the same amount of time to answer questions as it does to tell people to search.

Ah nevermind, so I see that it is different for the 6 speed vs the 8. So apparently according to the other post, disconnecting the battery should do the trick! |

If the battery is dead, disconnecting it will not help.
DISCLAIMER - Secure the car's wheels prior to doing this procedure! To manually put the car in neutral (X5 with 8 Speed Automatic): There is a protective shield over the transmission with a couple 8 mm screws I believe. Then there is a set screw that is a 6 or 8 mm Allen. It has to be turned clockwise until it bottoms out. The screw is on the drivers side of the Trans. The car will be in neutral at that point. Be very careful. If the emergency brake is NOT engaged, the car will roll! Good Luck. Last edited by aspahn; 03-23-2015 at 09:56 AM.. |
