Cost of repainting rear bumper and wheel arch

Anybody know how much it would cost to have the entire rear M bumper and rear wheel arch repainted? I know I'll have to go in person to get an estimate, but wanted to see what ballpark figures are.

As we speak, I'm getting painted:
- rear bumper
- front bumper
- all 4 arches
- both running boards

$1445 quoted

The size of the item doesn't really make a difference.

I'm thinking around $400.

EDIT: Less if you're removing and installing yourself.

Wow, good timing. That sounds pretty good to me to get all that for $1445. Are you going with dealer or non dealer body shop?

I got quoted $1800 from an indy. Just for repainting these. More than I expected.
  • rear bumper
  • rear wheel arches
  • rocker panel

We don't have rocker panels... do you mean running boards/side skirt? But yeah that's outrageous. Next

EDIT: I guess I can see it being higher than mine if you need to repaint these items due to damage. It means more labor to strip the old paint. Mine are just the never-painted black trim with no prep needed. Still, shouldn't be more than $1000.

Its for an X5M - I thought they're called rocker panels. I wanted to get them repainted, but if its going to cost that much, I'll just wait til they look worse to do it.
The bumper alone was quoted as $800 to repaint.

I was quoted ~$750 to get my front bumper repainted by a high quality body shop.

Hmm, good to know. Need to get some more estimates to compare. Maybe $800 is the going rate for a rear bumper in NY.

I have a Subaru bumper that needs painting, $800-1200 is the quote, usually depends on a number of factors. In my case a small rear-ender accident, and there is a variance in the quote on what needs to be replaced parts wise.

Then the labor rate on removing old bumper and installing new.

Geographical locales affect pricing too.... environmental regulations, city taxes, disposal fees, and perhaps living in Manhattan/Queens/LI vs going to "billybobs auto emporium," in some podunk county/town 3hrs outside of the city...

I did have a quote on a fender arch to be repainted, and no labor, just spray alpine white. $80-$120. But the higher quote here, had a lower bumper painting price.

That said, all you can really do is get 3 quotes, and shop around. If you really want to save some cash, be willing to leave the city to the lesser known areas... It could save you 10-30%. If you can do the installation, you save a ton.

I don't know how much better a "high quality shop" would do. Looks perfect IMO.
