Installed Mtec AE's Are They Suppose To Look Like This...?

Sup guys,

I installed some Mtec Version 3 AE's earlier today. I also coded the AE's to be the daytime running lights using BMWhat. Are they suppose to look like this? I have the same ones installed on my E90 and the rights are equally bright. Also the inside light looks like it has a bulb on.

I'm assuming you have a 2011 or older X5 and these are LED bulbs? If I'm correct, you won't see good results pairing LED bulbs with the halogen coronas (pre-2012 models) in the X5. The inside bulb is always brighter, and they look worse if you're looking at them from an angle vs. straight on.

There are quite a few bulb options out there. While many members do use the LED's, I think a white halogen bulb is usually a better option. Not the expert though as mine came with the LEDs (2012 and newer).

Good luck!

Yep, the design on the E70 does not lend itself very well to putting on aftermarket bulbs. It gets worse with LED lights, where the inner angel eye is VERY bright and the outer ones don't even look like they're on.

If you want the OE look, do a headlight retro, thats the only thing that looks like it. Not any aftermarket LED bulb, because of the headlight design

I was ready to buy these but now I'm not so sure. Do the DTEC perform better? meh maybe just better to look for a white halogen ..suggestions?

Yes, halogen with a pre-LCI.

People on these forums get googly-eyes at the sight/thought of LED's
