X5 belt tensioner, belt, drive
Clicking noise when i start up and at idle. I narrowed it down to the belt, and belt tensioner. Took it in to a a local German Auto Shop, they want to replace belt, belt tensioner, and the entire drive for a 3.5 hour job. The pulley is wobbling a little bit, but that part itself was 580 bucks.

It probably would. Why are you letting a German auto shop work on the X5? Your sig says you have a 2013 which should still be under warranty.

I had a 2013 under contract, but went with a 2011 instead. Need to update it.
UPDATE: Car died on highway. U Joint Failed, and snapped and now the driveshaft hit the transmission and the transmission is toast, Oil Filter Gasket toast, Belt, Belt Tensioner, and Crank all destroyed. Car is at a highly reputable shop here in town pulling it apart. Car will not even budge, and there is no more oil left in motor. Car is at a Local Shop called European Road and Racing here in Charleston, SC. Cannot say enough praise at these guys. Check them out if you are local. I am in utter shock that only 64k miles I have now replaced, and probably more once they tear it down. As mentioned in another thread, U-joint is a known issue under recall. I would highly recommend to pause, not let the shop pull the vehicle apart, and meanwhile pursue the claim with BMW for full repair.
Print the TSB about recall, recall notice from BMW and pay a visit to BMW. Being prepared goes a long way. |
