How to get BMW service records if dealership has closed?

Hey guys, I'm trying to buy a BMW (M4 for a project car) and I found a low mileage one near me, but it was serviced at a official dealership that is now CLOSED. I talked to a different BMW dealership and they don't have information on the car besides recalls/fixes, which is scaring me a bit, but it's a good deal and has a good Carfax, I just don't know how to talk to the dealership since it merged with the one I contacted, yet they have no information on it.

The person said he'll try to find the paperwork (gave me most of it) but I really only want the one where the oil was changed and whatnot.

How do I get that information?

Thanks guys!

Hey,

If I recall correctly, "CarFax" had another site, I don't recall the name, but it would give you full service details on a specific VIN if you signed up (free!) and included that VIN in "your Garage".

G.L.

Cheers!

P.S. - F.Y.I.: "MyCarFax" -> "Garage" -> "Dashboard"

Oh my goodness!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

It's a start so I can at least point it out!
I found that it has a "Maintenance Inspection Completed"

but has no details about it! hmm. I found the exact day and mileage at the time though! So much help thank you!

The other dealership is BSing you. BMW N.A. keeps a national database on all service performed on any BMW that is worked on by a BMW dealership. The approach you need to take is to have the car serviced at a dealership, say an oil change or pre-purchase inspection. Ask the SA that you'd like a redacted copy of the service history of the vehicle. Meaning, up front tell the SA that you understand that the service records would have the previous owner(s) personal information, which you are not interested in, and that you are simply asking for the SA to print the service information and then remove the previous owner's personal information before he gives the copy to you.

I did this for the Z4 I bought from CarMin and attained the BMW service history.

If you have a BMW scan tool like Bavarian Tech, it will tell you how many times the CBS-monitored service items have been performed.

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

You can go to any BMW Service Center and request service records. They'll be able to pull everything up with the last seven of your VIN.

BMW has a centralized database. Any dealership can pull service records.
