Installed my euro light switch and added the jumpers to the FRM for rear fogs.

Ugh, I dislike BMW brake pads so much. I have some Akebonos I want to put on, but hate throwing away the good pads on there now. But really, this is ridiculous.

Haha yes they do. The Akebonos are much cleaner but the initial bite is also much worse. Don't get me wrong, they still brake just fine, but the feel is very different.

Also, the maguires ultimate wheel cleaner works wonders!

I have Akebonos on all the other cars, and already on the rear of the X5, so just counting the days...

I'll check out the wheel cleaner. I'm using regular detail spray, and it requires a lot of scrubbing to get this sticky mess removed!

Try the wheel cleaner or degreaser mixed 50/50 with water. Defintely don’t let it sit for to long, if that doesn’t work step up the blend to favor the degreaser.

Still annoys me that I even would have to do something like this!!! With the other cars I just wipe them down every few weeks when detailing the rest of the car. NBD and done!

Got finally my 2010 x5 40d lci towed to a shop close to our new home town, we will relocate by the end of this month, 230 km away, not really far, but my beast needs a new timing chain, so driving was not an option. Issues started right on time at rougly 293.000 km on...December 22nd.🤐
Hopefully it will be fixed within 4 weeks, kinda feel withdrawal kickin in😉

Test fit the rear of a BBK I'm working on. I'll do a writeup when it's all said and done. If it works out that is, but things are looking very promising so far.

Are these F10 M5 brakes or E70 X5M?

I'm planning on piecing together a kit myself.

Anyone know what's the smallest wheel size front F10 M5 brakes will fit behind? I'm wondering if I could get away with running them behind style 209's with some spacers for a little while before I decide what direction I want to go with wheels

Neither. They are off an F8x M3/4. They are not as beefy as the F10 M5 brakes but will be a huge upgrade over stock, and I can definitely still clear 19s. The F8xs came factory with 19. The F10 came with 20s, but I believe folks have put 19s on them as well.

Checked the OCC on a whim. First month or so of use had just a film of oil in it. Today it had a good 20ml of fluid in it! The temps dropped over that time, but also it had a few weeks of start/stop commute driving vs. road trips to Phoenix and Santa Cruz. Now I'm wondering what the valves are looking like!

Mmmm-mmmm, look at that crema:

I painted my new AliExpress Comfort Access door handles the same colour as the car. 3 out of 4 door handles were either getting hot or not working at all when I bought the car.

Indeed, one of these: https://burgertuning.com/products/bm...hassis-n55-bmw

It was definitely keeping some vapor from going back into the system. Hopefully it will help keep the intake cleaner over time!

It doesn't have a good mounting set up for the E70, so is just sort of hanging there under the brake system. I went and stuck a block of 2x4 wood under it to support it. Probably doesn't matter, but it made me feel better.

Also hot-glued the insulation padding back onto the engine cover while I was fiddling about.

Update: my x5 40d will not only have the timing chain replaced...but also all 6 injectors,,they were completely stuck and could not be removed undamaged. "Sigh".
Looking at around 5k. Expect to have it back next week, at least way earlier.

Update II: Black Beauty is back in town 😊......but the price tag was significantly higher...6k out of our savings...
...originally intended to buy a used Saab for wifey...oh happy days 😨. Sigh.

Cannot blame the shop though, the guys literally went the extra mile to make it happen, and they simply could not stop shortly right before completion.

At least it should be good for the next 290.000 km now, fingers crossed.

Still cheaper than a new one! Hope it runs great for you now!
