Will old vs. new iDrive effect resale value?

While we are all excited to enjoy this new vehicle, I find myself wondering about down the road when it comes time to sell. The early years of a vehicle are generally not as desireable as the later years.

My concern is that once the new iDrive becomes common, the old version will be less desireable than the new, and that will hurt resale value for the cars with the old version. Any thoughts?

Fuel prices would affect resale more.

New features come out all the time throughout the model run. The actual major body style change affects resale value not so much options.

Only an astute buyer would know the difference. Most shoppers buy on impulse.

it surely wouldn't help. the new idrive isn't just a small upgrade from the current, but a complete redesign from the ground up.

Used cars ( no matter what make or model ) will NEVER have the same updated equipment that a new car does...While the new I drive is nice, It will not dictate the future value of this car.. As Chuck said, Fuel prices and the publics desire to drive a SUV will have more of a factor on value.

as a single option, no. but with older model year, yes. bottomline is if u can wait for the newer system that's great, but if u can't wait to have one then buy it now start to enjoy it. u might be able to get better discount with the older which would offset the resale lost.

Also one must keep in mind the 09's will cost over $3k more. That is a lot of loot to pay. So the way i see it, they may get the new iDrive, but are losing more on the depreciation curve.
