2011 X5 E70 Radiator Fan on Full Blast even at 113F

Hi guys,

My 2011 X5 E70 Radiator Fan is on full speed when the coolant temp get to 113F (45C)for 10 sec and off and back on again for couple sec and off and back on again specially when the vehicle speed is less than 70 km/h.
It has just over 100,000 km (62,000 miles) on it.
The coolant level was once empty in the reservoir for about a week but was then topped up later.
I manually tiger the water pump to bleed the system after the reservoir was filled. So water pump is good and runs.
Any idea or comment before I start replacing the coolant temp sensor?

Thank you very much

Update: I have changed the coolant temp sensor at the front of the block.
But the fan still comes on way before it gets too hot.
The only "improvement" is that it would now turn on after the Ktemp reach 65C (165F).
But from my understanding this is not normal operation temp yet.

Any one?

I started having the same issue and within 2 weeks I had to replace water pump and thermostat. Be ready because it's coming... Car had about 56k miles or so. $800 later it was all good, $400 for water pump, thermostat, and coolant. $400 for labor.

Your water pump is failing. Replace the thermostat as well while everything is apart.
