heater blower motor
My daughter's 2011 X5 has an intermittent heater fan issue. Seems to turn on and off for no reason. Her mechanic claims to have seen this issue before even turning on with the key out of the car. He says the entire dash panel needs to be replaced. Any words of wisdom?

Most likely it's the blower motor regulator or FSU (final stage unit) as it's called in some models. Cost $70-100 depending on brand but prob better/cheaper to buy the whole motor/fan/regulator assembly as a whole b/c you're going to have to pull the unit out to to replace so minus-whale while you're in there. 15-20 mins DIY job.

Just please make sure you are not being charged for a new dash as it will in no way affect the blower motor. Also, post prices of the estimate! |

Blower motor
Thanks for the feedback. My goof I typed in 2011 (that's the year of my X6) should have been 2003.
Her mechanic wanted $700 to $1000 for the repair. I bought a final stage unit, FSU, from Amazon for $55 it is an OEM part. The install took about an hour. Works fine. 4 55 |
