FYI - Emails with iPhone

Apple just announced iOS6. One feature buried among the 200 new ones is -- Bluetooth MAP support. Bluetooth MAP is the protocol used to retrieve email messages through iDrive, which currently only works with Blackberry and a few other devices. So, with any luck, when iOS6 is released this fall, we will finally be able to use the email features of iDrive with the iPhone.

its somewhat working in the beta...I can see messages for a moment, then they disappear. There is also an option to sort by Email, Messages or System Messages now.

Hopefully when iOS6 is finalized and released, BMW will release a software update for iDrive to better take advantage of its features and to fully support MAP/email from iPhone. They did one such update for iOS5. When or not the update will include support for the "Siri Eyes Free" button is another story--but I really hope so. It's clear that existing iDrives can be programmed to do just about anything and already have deep iPhone integration; the safety and useability implications of Eyes Free will hopefully mean that a new car is not required.

man-- I hope you're right! I have a 2012 X6M too and hope I can get email soon. would be nice.
